5.1 PTR Pet Abilities Preview

I was finally able to log onto the PTR, but using old character copies. This means that I don't have access to any of the new pets, and my Pet Battling progress is back to square one.

It wasn't a complete waste of time, though. I managed to preview the possible battle abilities for the new pets. Here they are, from lowest level spell to highest level (2, 4, 10, 15, 20, 25). Remember that this is the PTR, so all of this is subject to change.

All the Pandaren elemental spirits are probably unfinished since they all share the same 6 abilities in the same exact order: Water Jet, Frost Nova, Geyser, Ice Lance, Frost Shock, and Tidal Wave. They will probably get updated with their own unique set of spells eventually.

Here are some screenshots of what the elemental spirits look like, although I'm sure there are better images out there. The Pet Journal preview is slightly off center. If you use a program like WowModelViewer, I think you should be able to view the Pandaren elemental spirits in their full glory.

Fire

Earth

Water

Air

IMPORTANT NOTE: Ignore the green border around each icon for the Pandaren elemental spirits. This does NOT mean that they will be of uncommon (green) quality. There's currently no indication of what quality they will be, although I'm going to guess rare (blue).

There is a bug on the PTR where it will show the color of your last previewed pet. I just happened to preview a green quality pet right before taking a look at the spirits.

This goes for all the pets mentioned here. The Pet Journal on the PTR is showing quality for all companions, even non-wild ones, but it's bugged and might not accurately reflect the new pets' quality.

  1. I had hoped Cinder Kitten would have more Druid of the Flame cat form moves. Like the ones from the fandral fight and trash before... Reckless leap. Deal x damage and be stunned for one turn... Summon fiery orb, ( like a build turret ability.) but. It's the cuteness that counts!

    1. @Goldacc: I was surprised that it didn't have more unique abilities since it's a Pet Store item.
